SEG: Climate protection, quality and the future
SEG Umwelt-Service GmbH has been engaged in resource preservation and climate protection ever since its foundation in 1987 in Mettlach an der Saar. At the end of the 80s, the focus of ecological discussions was increasingly on the high potential danger of CFCs/ hydrocarbons. SEG made the recovery of these substances from old refrigerators the focus of its business. At the start, total recovery of the CFCs / hydrocarbons wasn’t technically possible, which is why SEG tasked itself with developing special technology which could preferably remove all CFCs / hydrocarbons from old appliances. This technology for extracting and harmlessly destroying the chlorofluorohydrocarbons damaging the ozone is still being optimised by us today.
Resource preservation through the recycling economy
The SEG system sets significant standards for a responsible and sustainable refrigerator recycling economy due to extensive demanufacturing. The technology from Mettlach is used throughout Europe: resource preserving refrigerator demanufacturing according to the SEG system has considerable market shares in France, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland and Sweden, amongst others.
